Snow & Cold Weather – Key Information for Residents
Self-Responsibility
- Clear snow/ice from your own drive, paths, and the pavement outside your home.
- Help neighbours who may struggle (elderly, disabled, those living alone).
- Best time to clear snow is in the morning before it compacts.
- Use a small amount of salt or sand to reduce slips.
Salt Bins (Public Use Only)
Salt bins are for public paths and roads only.
Locations:
- Lower Road (farm entrance)
Report empty bins via the MyWiltshire app or website.
Travel Safely
- Avoid driving in severe conditions where possible.
- If driving: clear all windows/lights, drive slowly, keep extra distance, and carry essentials (blanket, torch, water, shovel).
- Walk slowly, wear shoes with good grip, and beware of black ice.
Stay Warm at Home
- Keep rooms at least 18°C.
- Stock food, medicines, and essentials.
- Prepare for possible power cuts (torches, batteries, blankets).
- Eat hot meals and stay hydrated.
