Wiltshire Council Update re Recycling Changes

Changes to Wiltshire Waste and Recycling Services
Wiltshire Council has agreed a number of changes to household waste and recycling services over the next few years to meet new national requirements and manage costs.
• Household waste collections may change from fortnightly to once every three weeks from 2027, a public consultation is expected in early 2026.
• Food waste collections will be introduced and residents will receive indoor and outdoor food caddies by 2027.
• Additional bags will be provided for flexible plastic recycling.
• The current kerbside recycling system will remain, with improvements planned at the recycling facility.
• Purton and Lower Compton Household Recycling Centres are planned to close in August 2026.
• A trial booking system will be introduced at some recycling centres to improve safety and reduce congestion.
• Plans for a new household recycling centre in the north of the county are expected within 3 to 4 years.
